The PSN – Northern Luzon Chapter or the North Luzon Association of Kidney Specialists (NLAKS) was recognized as an official PSN chapter in 2012. The chapter is 61 members strong, with a majority of the members (17) practicing in Pangasinan, fifteen members (15) are serving in the Cordillera Administrative Region (which includes Baguio City, Benguet, and the Mountain Province), while ten are practicing in Isabela and Quirino. Ilocos Sur and Norte, as well as Abra, are being served by eight nephrologists, while La Union and, Nueva Vizcaya and Ifugao have four in each locality. Cagayan, Kalinga, Apayao are being catered to by three nephrologists.
The chapter also boasts of four peritoneal dialysis units, all of which are based in a government hospital. There are 88 hemodialysis units scattered all throughout the chapter, with 19 hemodialysis units, the majority of which are in private hospitals (10).
In total, there are 14 hemodialysis centers offered by government hospitals, 37 by private hospitals, with 37 freestanding centers as well.
