The worldwide incidence of chronic kidney disease is inexorably on the rise- and the Philippines is not spared from the alarming statistic. Currently, kidney disease is included in the list of Top 10 causes of morbidity and mortality. And for a developing country, the burden of the disease and its economic implication is staggering. The urgency for controlling the disease at its emergence has never been more vital.

The Philippine Society of Nephrology launched the Preventive Nephrology program in an effort to quell kidney disease at its roots. PSN has developed programs and policies with the purpose of preventing renal illnesses in the context of the Filipino’s unique and varied ethnic and social dimensions.
