PSN – Western Visayas Negros Occidental Chapter was previously the other half in the Western Visayas Chapter. However, after reaching the minimum requirements of members, the nephrologists from Negros Occidental decided to form an independent chapter in 2015.
Currently, included in the roster are 18 adult nephrologists and two pediatric nephrologists – nine fellows, six diplomates, four board eligible, and one non-member. The majority of the nephrologists are practicing in Bacolod City, however some hold clinic days in other towns and cities of Negros Occidental. Negros Occidental has a total of ten free-standing HD clinics, five of which are located within Bacolod City, three in the north of Negros Occidental (Talisay, Cadiz, Sagay) and two south of Negros Occidental (La Carlota, Kabankalan). There are six private hospitals and one regional hospital in Bacolod City which operates their own HD units. Outside of Bacolod City, there is a dialysis unit in the provincial hospital in Silay City, and several other hospitals scattered in the region.
