Committee on CME in 2020

The year 2020 was tagged to be a challenging year for the PSN Committee on Continuing Medical Education (CME) even before the COVID 19 pandemic happened. Aside from preparing the annual in-service examinations for fellows-in-training, the committee was also tasked to organize the review for PSN board eligible members.
For the first time, the committee conducted the in-service examination in two parts, with Part 1 given last January 12 at Richmonde Hotel, Ortigas and Part 2 last January 26 (QC and Cebu). Originally slated for July 2020, the second installment of the in-service exam was delayed by the pandemic and was eventually offered fully online on August 26, 2020.
The PSN Board Review was also divided into two sets, the first one was held last January 10 and 11, 2020 in Richmonde Hotel in Ortigas. The activity was attended by more than 40 board eligible members from all over the country. Lecturers for the high yield topics included Dr. Irmingarda Gueco (AKI), Dr. Alberto Chua (ABGs), Dr. Glenda Eleanor Pamugas, (KT), Dr. Russell Villanueva (Primary GN), Dr. Donnah Francesca De Leon (PD), Dr. Marissa Elizabeth Lim (Pregnancy), Dr. Cher Alaine Luna-Carolino (Secondary GN) and Dr. J Meinard Nepomuceno (CKD).
The COVID 19 pandemic delayed the staging of the second part of the review course, which was eventually held online on all Fridays of September 2020. Attendees of said review included recent graduates, increasing the attendees to more than a hundred per online session. The participants were treated to review sessions by Dr. Alberto Chua (Disorders of Na and Water), Dr. Coralie Dimacali (Nephrolithiasis and Urinary Tract Obstruction), Dr. Ramon Mora (Fluid and Electrolytes), Dr. Nickson Austria (UTI) and Dr. Marissa Elizabeth Lim (Hypertension).
