The Philippine Society of Nephrology advocates vaccination for all especially the frontline healthcare workers which include our dialysis patients and the staff in our hemodialysis centers who are equally vulnerable.
We fully agree with the prioritization listing employed in our health system but we should not forget that there are more than 10 Peritoneal dialysis centers and 500 hemodialysis centers that are currently operating and providing care for more than 16,000 dialysis patients nationwide. The health care workers in the dialysis centers and their patients are at increased risk of SARS-COV2 compared to the general population. These patients and the health care workers are not hospital-based and will depend on the LGU’s personal scheduling preferences.
