KIDNEY HEALTH Summit 2022

The Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital (BRTTH) in partnership with Philippine Society of Nephrology and its component Bicol Chapter, Department of Health Region V, Albay Medical Society and the Public Health Unit of BRTTH conducted its first hybrid Kidney Health summit last June 28, 2022 at the Hotel St. Ellis in Legazpi City. The summit was entitled: BATONG MALAKAS SA PANIBAGONG BUKAS!
The summit was attended by the various municipal health care workers particularly their nurses and doctors. There was a maximum of 50 participants in the venue and an online platform was also available for the other participants to be able to join the event. This was the culmination activity of the Kidney Month Celebration of BRTTH Department of Internal Medicine, Section of Nephrology headed by Dr. Melissa Tita Antonio.
The topics discussed during the summit included the following: Red flags in Kidney Diseases both Adult and Pediatric populations, Organ Donation, Nephrolithiasis, Leptospirosis and Herbal Nephropathy. These were presented by the nephrologists in Albay province.
As an apex referral hospital in the Bicol Region, the referral system to BRTTH was also presented to allow systematic referral to the institution by the different municipal health sectors. This move was beneficial to allow our healthcare workers to easily contact the BRTTH for further management of their patients.
The event concluded with a successful feedback from the participants as they look forward to more learnings in this new normal era.
