Dear Colleague:
Greetings!
The Committee on Peritoneal Dialysis created the “Primer on Peritoneal Dialysis” (previously called the PD Summit) to set the foundation for the basic knowledge of peritoneal dialysis. This special course is specifically organized for Nephrologists and their potential PD nurses and prepares them on creating their PD program and setting up a PD center in their areas of practice. The committee was able to conduct a total of seven (7) runs since this was launched in February 2018. The pandemic may have interrupted this biannual conference, but this allowed us to restructure, update and create new training modules.
By 2022, the Primer on Peritoneal Dialysis is reformatted into a blended learning tool with three (3) months of on-demand access to the recorded training modules. In our pilot run, this was conducted to all Nephrology Fellowship Training Institutions – adult and pediatric Nephrology fellows-in-training, three (3) representatives from the training core of each participating institution, and three (3) potential PD nurses from each institution. The next run is set for October 2022 and will be open to all Nephrologists and potential PD nurses. We further reformatted the program and divided the course into five (5) segments that are scheduled every Friday afternoon (twelve noon to five o’clock PM) from October 7, 2022, until November 4, 2022. Each segment ends with an interactive supplemental activity, and a panel Q and A session with the speakers. All lectures will be delivered virtually; a link will be provided once registered. The skills demonstration and return demo on manual (CAPD) exchange will be conducted by the PD Nurses of Baxter and Fresenius. We are arranging with the PD providers the logistics of the face-to-face hands-on training instead of a virtual demonstration. An online exam is scheduled the week after the fifth (5th) Friday session.
Participants who completed the attendance of the five (5) Friday sessions, passed the evaluation exam, and performed the return demonstration will be given the certificate of attendance with the corresponding CPD Units.
Registration is open to individual and institutional participants (one Nephrologist and two nurses from the same institution). Registration starts on August 15, 2022, until September 30, 2022.
Attached is the curriculum of the program and the registration form.
Thank you.
Respectfully yours,
